I'm working on a proposal for a new book that will have an ambitious illustration program -- probably 100-200 illustrations including some fairly simple charts and graphs, as well as 3-D scenes that will need to be rendered using Stratavision or some similar 3-D environment, all with a consistent, professional look and feel.
I'm not looking for an illustrator right now, but I wonder if any MR members could help me come up with a ball park budget estimate for such a project -- one that serious publishers/agents won't immediately dismiss as either unreasonably high or laughably low.
I was thinking somewhere in the range of $200 per illustration. Does that seem about right?
P.S. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum--it seemed to be about the closest fit.
