(1) I bought a PAYG mobile broadband dongle for my PowerBook the other day. The guy at 3 Mobile told me all the drivers were on the dongle itself, but turned out to be Windows only. So I went to their support site and finally found the right driver and program after a couple of attempts.

(2) The supplied program is terrible, every time you want to connect you need to enter your admin password and even then it failed every time. I therefore used the OS X Internet Connect to get online.

(3) Added to this, if you want to use the My3 portal to add top-up money and check usage, they send you a text message with a password. Unfortunately, if you have a Mac you can't receive this so you need a 3 Mobile Phone to put your SIM card in to get the password before you can use My3 - I put the SIM in my Virgin phone, didn't work! Wasn't going to get a new phone just for the password!

(4) While I was able to connect in 3G areas, in 2G areas authorization always failed.

(5) Took the dongle back after 4 days and got a refund, but they couldn't refund the £10 I spent on airtime to test the bl**ding thing.

Anyone else had the misfortune? Or actually got the software to work?
