30" ACD - 2 models?

I read that apple made 2 versions of the 30" ACD - the first version coming with a less bright version and the second version being much brighter.

So my question is how do I know which one I am buying? Is there a a different serial number for either version)

Search the forum, someone was here about 2 months ago and discussed how you could tell the difference, I believe by manufactured date.
