iPod 30 GB iPod Photo error

I'm new at this...

I have a 30gb video, I think it's a 5th gen. It keeps locking up when viewing photos. If I do a reset (flip the hold switch back and forth, then hold the menu and centre button) it typically fixes the error.
This time it's locked up. Tried the reset a few times, just shows the apple with the bite out of it in the background, and there are some horizontal lines, about 20 rows, along the bottom...

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

If a hard reset and or software restore doesn't remedy the problem I would look into taking it back. Could be a faulty drive.

If this happens again you could try restoring it from iTunes. Remeber the 5 R's:

Reset
Retry
Restart
Reinstall
Restore
