30 inch monitor sale

It looks like dell is having a sale on their 3007 monitor. Down $350 to $1049.

Has anyone paired that to a MacBook pro and gotten good results? I though I heard one person say that a 30 inch monitor made his fan run all the time.

I'm not going to be doing highly accurate color work. More of general work and programming. I will be running corel draw via fusion....
