30-pin to audio adapter?

...but in a dock form so it's square and no wires. It's really hard to explain (English isn't my first language) but if you connect your iPhone to the iPhone dock and connect an aux cable to the 3.5mm jack on the dock, the phone gets rid of the volume control and instead, is fully reliant on the car speakers.

I'd use the dock to achieve what I want, but considering the shape of it, it's really unstable while I'm driving.

I use this into the Aux input of my car stereo. Have yet to find anything with better sound quality as it's just line out audio.

I think this is the "dock" design you describe, this means when the cable frays/shorts out as they invariably will I get to replace the $4 audio cable instead of a special cable like the one you linked to.

The fact that it gives line out audio and still lets me charge/sync with a mini-USB makes it a great piece of kit for me.

I've used one from Monster before as well but after iOS updates, it started saying it wasn't supported on the iPhone screen all the time.

The one from Kensington has worked very well for me.

FYI...it won't work with an Apple bumper but you can file down the adaptor (I took a dremel to mine )

See that's what I was talking about that I stay away from. I have had at least 6 different audio cables short and go bad, it is just going to happen over time as the cable gets moved. With the cable solution you pay $40 every time it shorts out.

I have had charge/aux from griffen, Kingston, and incase - all of them cost $40+ and failed when they shorted out at the end of the cable.

With the pocket dock you pay $30 for the dock and $6 for every 1/8" mini jack wire that you have to buy. I can buy a shorter or longer cord if that suits me. This last time I picked one up I bought a flat one that is working really well.

The pocket dock works with the 4S bumpers fine, but the original bumper's opening was too small for the pocket dock.

That is good to know and you're right. Take the Monster cable I bought that ended up giving me the "not supported" screen after an iOS update. My Kensington has been going strong so maybe I'll look at something like this if it should fail.
