Houston (duh)
When speaking to a Rep by phone to make changes to my order, she informed me that they were overwhelmed with orders and had 3000 watches ordered in hour 1.

Is it me, or does that found like "nothing"? 3000? For an international launch?
If her number is correct, and 3000 was considered a lot, then I'll jump on the Apple is now run by idiots bandwagon.
When forcing people to buy online, 3000 in an hour for all of the U.S. and UK is nothing.

I'm guessing that her number is wrong or maybe limited to phone orders...

Something tells me a standard specialist rep would not have access to that info. Probably talking ****.

Skeptical. No way does a CSR have her hands on early sales figures.

How would a normal phone rep know how many watches Apple sold in an hour?

a rep on the phone won't know that kind of information....

(and i'm willing to bet at least 25% if not more like 50% of the orders places were multiples with plans of cancelling one or the other, since we weren't allowed try one ahead of the preorder)

maybe..... apple will learn with wearables, to have try ons start a week or so before actual preorders, if they start getting mass cancellations (but then... they'll never admit that.... they'll used the hyped up double orders numbers to boost their "sales" figures

Probably for that call center alone. In the past, people have gotten around the "Apple Store is still down" problem by calling in their order so a bunch of people probably did that again.

There were...

...almost 3,000 people on the forums last night just before launch alone... Had to be much more than 3,000 sold in first hour??

maybe 3,000 a minute
If so and a CSR did have access to that information, then stock really stinks. I think the MR population did that in 15 minutes. :p

I guarantee you she was making that figure up (former Apple advisor here). Advisors don't have access to sales numbers.

Seeing as this was a customer service rep, I bet she meant 3000 calls in the first hour.
