Matroska in Quicktime

I have downloaded and install the MatroskaQT.comonent and yet I am still unable to play these Matroska videos in Quicktime. It's pretty frustrating...

They work fine in VLC ... but I want to be able to play them in Frontrow.

Can somebody help me? :(
 
It might not be a Universal Binary that works with Intel chips. Could be a problem with the codec, or one of the other codecs, could be a problem with the file. Remove it and try the latest versions of Divx and Perian (do a Google search for the beta of version 1).
 
FYI Matroska is just a container like MOV or AVI. I've seen quite a variety of bizzar codec combinations used in MKV files. Didn't know Perian was supporting it now, cool.

Only the betas of Perian support mkv, however it eats up processor cycles pretty bad.
 
Perian allow to read MKV file. But some mkv have the video encoded with Real Video Codec (RV9 RV10). Perian+QT can't decode this.

Perian+QT can't read VOBSUB subtitle.

You must use Mplayer with additional codec for this two exception.

Yes pls do, before November 15th. im getting my iMac soonish after this date, and would luv to be able to play mkv files on it + subs :) And my french is rather rusty :p
 
I found a Universal version of the MatroskaQT component. I don't know where I got it, and can't find any files that actually need it, but I know it's out there for Intel Macs for QT. I only have issues with Indeo files with QT, everything else plays fine with Perian and a few others installed.
