I haven't started my investigations yet but since updating to 15.4 I've lost about 300gb of free space on my M2 MBA's SSD.
Has anyone had a similar experience?

I haven't seen anything like that happening with mine. I also have an M2 MBA. 300GB seems like a lot...I would definitely check to see if you have anything that got downloaded off the cloud and check those settings. That seems really weird to me. But stranger things have happened in this world!

I'm wondering if something has happened with my Photos library in that time. I'm looking in the iCloud Photos package and there is lots of space taken up by these files. Can I play with them?

No idea my friend. To be honest, I would have no idea if you should play with them or not. if you do, make sure to make a Time Machine back up before you delete or offload anything just incase.

Ok, so my iCloud Photos library has ballooned in size from 43gb one month ago to 267gb today. With very few photos or videos added in that time. There's something wrong here. Has anyone else had this problem?
