300gb Velociraptor Questions

Currently I run a 150gb Velociraptor as my OSX boot disk. I am considering replacing it with a 300gb Velociraptor, and partitioning it in half. One partition for OSX the other for Win 7.

I know that the 300gb is a two 150gb platters. Will partitioning it in half give each partition its own platter or does the disk just fill the outer most sections of each platter first, regardless of its partitioning scheme?

Which ever is the first partition will get the outermost part each platter.
