300mhz Power Mac G3 cd-drive

I was curious if i can just swap any IDE drive into the PowerMac. Im fairly new to Macs, so forgive any slight ignorance. Cause i would like to swap a dvd-rw in instead of the plain cd-rom. im running 10.0.4 currently, but i plan to upgrade to 10.3, which will give me the dvd support.
