I'm buying a 15" MBP when the newest revision is released, but I'm still having problems deciding which kind of screen to get. Any one have any advice?

Glossy vs Matte?

I Like Matte coz it seems more neutral. In the sense that it doesnt reflect light as much and feels like my Apple cinema display. my eyes get really tired with glossy.

I second that motion. These threads are almost as bad as the MacBook vs. MacBook Pro threads. Or even worse the Buy now or Wait threads. I think there should be a block on certain threads.
in addition to suggesting a thread search, maybe we could answer the op's question; it couldn't hurt. my advice is to find the nearest apple store to compare the two screens. see which you like better. i personally like both. the one thing that bothers me sometimes about glossy is the way certain colors look, especially in ical. i just can't stand using ical with a glossy screen.
I prefer glossy, but it depends on what you're doing with it. Matte isn't really the best if the sun will be shining upon it, but glossy is better at showing even in the sun. Matte just sortof looks dull to me, but glossy is shiny, but doesn't really reflect anything too badly when it does. In the end it's whatever you prefer, but I'd get glossy.
It would really improve on your "cool" factor if you provided the OP with a link to those threads too rather than making a non-contributory whinge
I prefer matte screen. I had a MB with glossy and it made my eyes very tired. But aside from that glossy tends to saturate the colours you see which is great for playing games and watching movies, but not great if you depend on colour accuracy for designing, artwork or photography. I also find the glare on a glossy screen is annoying as well. The MBP are far more brighter than the Powerbooks ever were so viewing your matte screen in bright light such as outdoors is far better than it used to be.
When I bought my MacBook Pro, I was in the same dilemma. I wasn't sure whether or not to get the glossy or matte screen. After spending an hour or so with both machines next to each other (thanks to an apple employee) and doing identical things on them (e.g. going to the same site, watching the same movie) side-by-side I decided to go with the matte screen. As nice as the glossy screen seems, especially when watching movies and viewing photos, the cons ended up outweighing the cons. I felt the glossy screen, like others have said, distracts from the screen too much when there is light on the screen or in the general area of the machine. For my uses (mainly during the day, portability) it was a much better choice to go with a screen that I felt is easy to view in all conditions. Whichever screen you go with will be great. No one can make this decision for you, it's very personal and which screen to go with depends truely on your uses.
glossy is useful for selling laptops (shiny, pretty, must buy). not so much for actual use (glare, ouch my eyes, portable mirror).

If you use the graphics for work/art (I.E. video, photography, or design) you want matte. If you just want the screen to look pretty get the glossy.
The decision simply on type of activity what you do with your computer. Content-wise; if you're *producer*, then choose matte display, but if you're *consumer*, then choose glossy display.

I have the matte screen. I took a test run with a MB and the glossy was kinda annoying with the reflections. Also, the viewing angle on the MBP seems a little better? I dunno maybe thats just me. Anyways, I do like the matte screen, no complaints here.
As others have said, it would help if you told us a little more about what you'll mainly be doing with your MBP.
If you'll be doing graphical stuff then you'll want a Matte, but otherwise check them both out and see which one you like best.
I don't do too much graphical stuff (and none for a living) so I went with Glossy and I don't find it hurts my eyes.
After being a Matte owner for many years, I thought this MacBook's Glossy would really tick me off.
Instead I love it.
Everything looks cleaner and the colours to me look crisper. Edges are edges.
However, if I upgrade to a MBP I will invest some time in comparing the two side by side. See which I can live with.

glossy: because of the reflective nature of the screen the colour are slightly and sometime exaggerated. Don't ask me why. It has something to the angle the light reflect off the screen and how the light from the lcd is twisted/bend. This is great if you use it for watching movie and picture(most company market the glossy screen with that as a feature).

Thanks for all the help. I'm leaning more towards a glossy right now, but i'm not sure. When the new revision comes out and hits my apple store, i'll spend the hour or so and drive down there and make it a day trip to decide my screen. My dad was in the same dilemma, but when he went to order his book from lenovo, it only came in matte. I wish it was that easy.
As I forgot to mention, I plan on using it for simple web surfing, school work, and gaming. Rarely, I might do picture or video editing.

My uses are similar to yours, but after looking at the glare the glossy causes, I have to say that I will never buy a glossy if I can help it. Take a look for yourself, and be sure to rotate the computer a little so you can see it with different lights in the background...I have a feeling Apple makes their employees put the computers in such a way as to reduce glare. Good luck on your purchase.

I second that - matte is the way to go.
Go Matte. Although Glossy has teh novelty value, and does make colours appear more vivid, I never thought they were bland anyway - and the novelty wears off pretty quick when you realise that using it outdoors or in a bright space is a pain in a but (though not impossible). Agh, the last train journey I went on was such a pain, having to move the laptop to avoid reflections all the time. I wouldn't really bother with it if I were you.
