For less than $3 I bought this 8pin to 30pin adapter which seems to work great. For those with 30pin charger ports (older devices) that don't have the 30pin cables, this is an option.
I do have an 30pin iPod, but the reason I bought this adapter was a few years ago I think I "toasted" 2 lightning iPhones because of a bad "knockoff" lightning cable I had. So I immediately "quarantined" all my previous lightning cables and bought a couple of new ones from Apple at Apple prices.
I decided to check these quarantined cables using this adapter with my old iPod and if the cables charged the iPod, I assume their go-to-go. So this $3 adapter is my tester.
