Hey all, about a year ago I bought the Apple 30w and USB-C to Lightning cord for fast charging. Now that Apple supplies an 18w charger, do they charge at the same speed, or would the new 18w charge a little slower. Unsure which charger I should use for new Pro.

I doubt you're going to gain much speed past 18W. Even with the 18W it only charges at full power to about 50%, then starts to taper off.

I did some tests with a 10W iPad charger and my Pro Max. The phone draws 2 amps (about 10 watts) until it gets to around 55%, then starts drawing less current, slowly tapering down for the rest of the charge.

The 11 Pro has been tested to charged at around 22 watts so you may see slightly faster charging up to 50%.

There is a setting to only charge to 80% until 2 hours before it knows you need it ( overnight) - you can turn off that setting but it is set on by default. If only slowly charging I'd check that setting

Gotcha, thanks for that. I’ll continue using my 30w, unless I’m traveling in which case I’ll take the slightly smaller new charger!
