I've just received my MacBook Pro. It's perfect in every way and I've used it for a while today. It doesn't show any problems whatsoever and it is very fast and nice to use.

Just out of curiosity I ran the Apple Hardware Test and I was shocked to see that I got an error: 4SNS/1/40000000:TGOD. In order to verify if there was an actual problem, I run the test another 3 times right there and in each case the test found no problems whatsoever.

Again, to me the machine seems perfect and the 3 tests ran after the 1st test were all successful. Can I assume the laptop is fine? :D

Do you know what that error is supposed to be related to?

I'd run Memtest on a new system, though I'm not sure what the specifics are for the Mac version of it.

If you want to try a different hardware test, you can run one of the numerous Intel Mac memtest alternatives out there. A Google search will find them for you.

Or you can try a patched version of memtest86+ that claims to boot up on an Intel Mac, although I have not personally tested it yet.

mac2be, I had the exact same thing happen today on my new mpb! I decided to run the hardware test just for fun - and got the same error you did. I ran the test several more times, including the extended test and it never came up again. Not sure what to think about that and I haven't been able to dig up any info on that error.

Roughly the same thing just happened to me with my new Macbook Pro. It gave the error the first 3 times I ran the test, then stopped giving it as I ran the test 4 more times.

I called AppleCare and they said it has something to do with the logic board. The product specialist recommended that I get the computer replaced as it might cause problems in the future (even though it had stopped giving the error).

I had the same problem with my new Macbook Pro 2.2GHz SR and when i disconnected my usb port that had my external Hard Drive connected, the problem went away!

Don't worry.

I didn't have any peripherals (other than the power cord) attached.

Similar problem with an older mac

Hi, my mac book pro is 3 years old and i never had big problems with it, i mean i used to be able to actually load the operating system. It started reseting itself and then it just started freezing on a blue screen that changes tone of color once in a while, never loading the operating system.
I run a test with the original disks to run a hardware test and it said:

Alert! Apple Hardware Test has detected an error.

4SNS / 1 / 40000000: TGOD-87.500

It doesn´t have anything conected to it besides power cord
