Just wanted to let you all know that Best Buy has the 320GB on sale for $159.99. I'm going to go pick that sucker up this week.

a word of advice, you might wanna check where each HD breathing holes are to help your decision ;)

Breathing holes aren't a problem, you just need to make sure they are not covered by the tape.

That said, according to Tom's Hardware the WD beats the Samsung through read speed but the Samsung is the best in terms of energy efficiency.

Plus, the Samsung comes as 500Gb format too...

since i already installed a WD320 in my MBPro, i was just pointing that maybe the Samsung has breathing placed in such a way that one does not have to temper with the tape.

Bought the Samsung (at Newegg, was 10 bucks more expensive 2 weeks ago) because of the energy efficiency and indeed, the hole is a bit better positioned and I had no issue with the tape.

The WD 320gb drive I just put in has a lower current rating on its label (.55A) vs what the photos I've seen on the web say (.7A).

OTOH, the thing vibrates like it's sitting on a large power transformer. Not too annoying, but definitely more than the Hitachi 250GB that this MB came with.

i couldnt find the samsung spinpoint in any uk online store.
can anybody throw a link here?
thanks.
