I applied the latest Max OS X updates which I believe contains a firmware update for Superdrive, I'm using Macbook Pro 2.16G 15.4".
The update process involved in 2 reboots, but then poped up a message: No device found for the firmware. Now, every time when I restart the MBP, it shows this message.
Is there anything wrong? How do I prevent the message show up again?

I set the MBP to auto check & download updates, when I got notice saying that new updates available, I installed the updates downloaded...
Now if I check new updates manually, it says "up to date", but the device not found message still pops up every time I restart.

That's weird, does Software Update say you have to install that update, or does it say that it's up to date?

Hmm, I wonder if the same method is used for regular firmware updates and Superdrive firmware updates. You might want to give this a read.

To get rid of message...

...simply delete the app. If the firmware identifies no drives needing updating, thats the message.

Had the exact same issue. Just deleted the superdrive update 2.1 app and we'll see if that gets rid of it...

I had the same problem.

The good part is that there is an easy fix. Follow this instructions from apple.com

That link goes to a "page not found", and a search of the Apple pages all direct to that page (article 305856). Does anyone have the steps on how to remove this update?

Recently did the SL superdrive firmware update. Now I get an error box telling me that the disk cannot be found. I can either click ignore or eject. Both cause the box to close. This only seems to happen on reboot.

The installer is supposed to determine if the upgrade is required/necessary. After my installation the message was "successful", so that part worked. Now I have the odd message, even when there's nothing in the drive.
