How long has this been out? I don't remember them announcing a 32GB iPod touch. So i guess my next question is, only 32gb for the iPod? Not 3G?

The fact that the 3G iPhone has only 16gb available is because of the cost of a single 32gb memory chip. The iPod has 2 16gb chips to reach 32gb The iPhone, with all the extra features (i.e. phone, gps, camera) lacks the room for a second memory chip.
