350 coins found in man's stomach

Surgeons found coins worth 4,050 francs. They believe the man swallowed the coins over the course of 10 years.

The coins and other items were so heavy they had pushed the man's stomach down between his hips.

Ouch!!! That's a pretty serious mental problem for it to manifest itself so strongly and to go unchecked for 10 years....I can't imagine that he's been all that healthy with all that coinage....

D

will they let him convert that to euros?

edit: oh.. I didnt realize that..no mention of it in the BBC article.

He wont be converting anything, he died afterwards from complications.

I didn't realize that he had died. A very sad result. May he rest in peace and his family be comforted.

Wow, coin man's got an unusual mental habit.

... "He couldn't eat or go to the toilet."

So then I guess he won't be making any change for a while.

Damn, that was cruel. :p

good one King Cobra.....kinda mean though....which leads to my question..what happens to that gum people sometimes swallow?

One ring leads to another...

Well, I'm not sure who's going to eat 5.5Kg of gum. But, also, unlike hard coins, gum can be shaped. Anyone ever try getting the mint out of a coin by chewing it around? No, because the coin doesn't get chewed that easily.

My point is: If gum goes down into the hallmark of uncharttered territory, it is more likely to complete the trip, unlike coins, which don't always. So there would be less of a danger to swallowing gum than coins.

And, yes, that was kinda mean. Appreciations for the complement. :p :p

pica is an odd disease. there was something a little while ago about a girl that ate her own hair ("my hair tastes like food"), it solidified in her stomach over years and had to be removed. Mostly pica is a disorder that goes unnoticed throughout a person's life, but check the guiness book for extreme cases... i remember a man grinding up objects in his food, he ate bizarre stuff like bicycles and a chandalier (to prove that ground-glass really won't kill you to eat), and was beginning a schoolbus or something like that.

Damn...

Coins don't pass through the body?

I always thought even unprocesses waste goes out...

So gum...and anything else that doen't get broken down is stuck at the bottom of my stomach?

ahhh
