I think the consensus is that Leopard will be released around Halloween. That's a scary thought! But who knows for sure. What's your guess?

Halloween, because to make up for all the slipups and delays with Leopard, I want the Apple crew to dress up when they announce it. Think about it; Steve Jobs as Dracula, Phil Schiller as Frankenstein...that would be awesome. Or failing that, just Steve Jobs with a bedsheet over his turtleneck with poorly cut eyeholes to liven up the Halloween season.

october 31st with a limited edition candied apple

The 4th week, most likely. They'll be expecting the very end of the month but they'll get a sudden surge of good luck and have it out the door just prior to that.

I was going to add a poll option for "October". ;) :p

It will very likely be after the twentieth, at least.

As far as I know, golden master status has not been reached.. meaning that we are at the very least 4 weeks off. It generally takes a month from the time the OS reaches golden master for product to ship.

Halloween-ish is a good bet.

4th week. The printer promotion ends that Monday I believe... so right after that's done.

I don't believe that there is any correlation between apple retail's printer promotion and the release of the operating system. It's not like there will be a discounted leopard w/ a new machine promotion to replace it.. leopard will be installed, or a drop kit will be included with every new mac at that point regardless of any promotions.

Since we're now 2/3 through September and there's still no release candidate on ADC, I'm starting to doubt whether we'll see Leopard in October at all. That is unless Apple intends to go gold without any final feedback from the developer community.

Since we just have news that it's moved from 527/528a to 528d, I'd say it's very close to release candidate.

Let's hope so. I'm running 9A528d now. But the fact still remains that the seeds are coming unusually few and far between at this stage in the release cycle.

How long after RC does it go gold and then retail?

To my memory, about 1 month.

It looks like they're doing a lot of small internal releases just to accelerate things. They've probably found a lot of annoying bits and they've got everyone from testers to office assistants testing it.
