A friend brought round his sons 2012 macbook pro. 2.9GHz i7 with 8GB ram and 1TB HDD, running El capitan.

So I'm thinking it's the HDD/sata cable.

soon as turn on the fan cuts in and is loud.
my own 2012 pro has been on for last 4 hours and cannot here fan.

This just switched on and fan going.
It not feeling too hot at vents.

but kernel_kext is hammering CPU.
Machine crawls.

We are going to fit an SSD to it.
but how do I fix the current issue as I do not want move it over with the cloning!

figures in title where from activity monitor app.

Located the problem.

It is the trackpad thermal sensor.

error: 4SNS/1/C0000008: Ts0P--123

“4SNS” = Sensor fault. “T” = Temperature sensor and “s” = trackpad

opening machine and removing battery and trackpad shows evidence of liquid spillage.
thankfully the dividing bar from motherboard and battery has kept the liquid on the battery side and away from motherboard.

hope a new trackpad will fix it.
