best version of itunes for a hacked/unlocked iPhone?

Which is the best version of itunes to use with an unlocked iPhone? Most guides have you use itunes 7.4.1.2 on windows but what is the mac equivalent?

The easiest way to get ringtones onto a v1.0.2 phone is either iTunes 7.4.1 or iToner.
