Add iLife to Clean Leopard Install

My brand new 24" iMac should be arriving sometime this week and has been shipped with Tiger. My "up-to-date" Leopard upgrade DVD arrived yesterday and after speaking to an Apple representative I've been told that you can use the DVD to do an "Erase & Install", which I'd like to do so that I can chose my preferences (leave out language packs etc.) and start from scratch totally.

I was also told that the iLife discs will come with my Mac and that I can re-install iLife right back onto Leopard. However, I thought you got "System recovery" type discs rather than a specific disk for iLife. Could someone clarify this for me?

IIRC, I believe that the bundled software is included in the discs that come with your computer. If you insert the first disc (which would've initially been used to reinstall Tiger), the contents of the disc will be visible in the form of a finder window, and will include an icon/folder for the installation of the "Bundled Software". Double-clicking on this will allow you to install the bundled software.

This is true just make sure that you only select the iLife stuff though (iDVD, iWeb, iPhoto, and iMovie) because by default it does all optional stuff.

I think I screwed this up, I just installed Leopard using Erase & Install and then put in the Tiger restore discs that came with my iMac with every intention of just installing iLife.

I clicked on the "Install Bundled Apps" icon and options in that, but in the cascading menu it listed . . . nothing, so I couldn't choose what to install. I thought to myself maybe that selection was one "continue" button push away, but it suddenly starting installing stuff like CPU Help, Office '04 demo, iWorks demo (even though I'd already done a disc install of iWorks from my purchased copy).

How much extra crap did this put on the iMac? Should I start over? I swear the thing didn't give me any options of what to install and what not to install, I looked and looked and looked.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks guys.

Under the fourth step during the installation process, there is a button on the left side called "Customize", clik here will let you choose what to install or what not to install.

I'm glad you brought this up. I wanted to put iLife on my Mini after Leopard, but never found it on the original Tiger CD. I figured it was on another disk, and forgot about it. Your post for some reason jogged my memory, my Mini came with 10.3! And 10.4 and OS9. But 10.3 was the primary OS. And right there on the disk was the stuff I needed.
