Mail displays wrong number of new mails

Hi guys,

My Mail has some problems with the new mail number on the dock. Anyone know how can I reset that number to normal?

What version of OSX do you have? Is it always out by the same amount? Have you tried restarting?

It's Leopard. Actually it always pluses 4 to the real number of mails. Even if I have no unread email it still shows 4

I have the same problem.
I tried this on two different Macs (Leopard and Leopard Server). still same...
Only the dock icon shows the correct number.
The number next to Inbox is stuck at 286 ?

Does anyone have a solution for this?

Try selecting all messages in the inbox (Apple+A) and then marking all as read (Shift+Apple+U). Hopefully then both counters will display no new messages

I tried that. It doesn't work. The counter on the dock gets updated, but no change on Mail. It is still stuck at 286.
