Now, today after what appears to be a troubled leopard install,

I get a FLASHING GLOBE, world map on the screen at startup, takes about 1.5 minutes to clear and then goes to the APPLE, with the pinwheel, which takes a while.

More rainbox wheels these days too, but WHAT is the GLOBE?

It is trying to start up in 'Network' mode. One it does start up, go to 'System preferences...>Startup Disk' and choose your Hard Drive.

thanks

Thanks, I found posts about two minutes AFTER I posted. I was searching for flashing globe, I should have just search GLOBE or WORLD GLOBE, which yielded some hits.

Anywaaayss

I merely opened the startup disk and clicked on the HD OSx10.5 icon, there WAS a network icon there, with a question mark in it. I REALLY don't like the fact that Leopard wants to try to connect to everything in the domain, sub net upon launch. I like having LINKS to my network files shares, which I will mount when needed.

Any way to turn this "feature" off?
