I've seen people post that they ordered the 38mm black sports band as late as 5-13 and already have their watches. Why is there so much of a difference with the whole process?

Perhaps they are having trouble making the band.

I had the same problem with my Pebble watch, I was an early backer yet plenty of others were getting their watches ahead of me. Turns out that Pebble could not get a decent color for the gray watch, which I had ordered. Finally they allowed the backers who ordered grey watches to change their order. I saw that black was processing quickly, and changed to it. I had my watch shortly afterward.
