It's not mounted on my desktop or in finder. I'm not really sure what happened. I restarted my computer just to clean up the ram and when it turned back on my hard drive wasn't on the desktop or finder. I still have access to all my files but my drive doesn't show up anywhere. Wtf?

So the drive appears to still be working okay. You just can't see it in the Finder, correct?

If so, try going to the Finder Preferences. Click on the Sidebar icon.

Look under Hard Disk option. You might see only a dash. Uncheck it. Then recheck it. Your HD should appear.

That didn't do it. I'm not really sure what's happened. I tried restarting, logging out and back in, I verified my HD in Disk Utility (the only place it actually shows up), and nothing is working. I don't know if I need to re-mount it or what has happened.

You can see in the picture that the only place that my HD (Charles) shows up is in Disk Utility.

I am not running Leopard, so I cannot check for specifics. But since you can see your files, I believe that it is a simple issue of the icon for the drive not showing on the Desktop or in the Finder.

Try un-checking all of the items shown on the Sidebar, then check them again and see what happens.

Switch to the Finder, and hit Apple + Comma. Click on the "General" tab and check the option to view Hard Disks on the Desktop, then go to "Sidebar" and enable it there as well.

Yeah that's already been done. My Drive isn't showing up ANYWHERE. I can't even see it by clicking Go>Computer. Nothing shows up.

Does it show up if you select Go, Go to Folder and type
Code:
/Volumes

Is it listed if you open up a Terminal and type
Code:
ls -la /Volumes

same

im having the same problem and have tryed all the things you have sugjested but still cant find my hard disk. the 1 thing that did do somthing was when i typed (ls -la /Volumes) into my terminal and it responded with some root admin stuff im kinda new to terminal so i dont know what that means?
