Hi,
I have a iphone 3gs which i bought on the launch date last year.
I am not eligible for upgrade until Feb 2011, but I read somewhere that I would be able to upgrade for $399.
When i tried to preorder through the apple site, it said I would have to play $599.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

I was in the same boat, on their site it says I'm not available for any upgrade discount until 3/11/2011. I went into the att store today and was given the "early upgrade" price of $499 for the 4g/32gb.

I also do not have an early upgrade discount either.

So I got the $599 price point as well.

I think I'll pass at that price.

So here is my question: we have three iphones and I know at least one of them is eligible but the one I reserved is telling me I have to pay $699 (!!!) for. That seems wrong, and now that I have it reserved, I want to find out how to switch it to the real one that is the right price. *sigh*

The reservation is based on your mobile number...it seems like the number you put in isnt eligible.

Well I called an AT&T store and they said they would do a manual override for the price. So I'll go there tonight and see what happens. They are open till 8pm

You mean they're going to sell it to you for $399/$499?

So I'm in the dreaded $599/$699 category. I'm looking to create a new line and get the $199/$299 price point then cancel my old number and pay the $120 ETF.

Obviously doing this on Apple.com isn't working. I've gotten through the "add a line" sequence on ATT.com's website, but once I pick the iphone it wants me to select a calling plan. I already have a 1400 minutes Family Talk plan. Anyone familiar with the steps to get this to work?

Ok so I went to a local AT&T store. They basically told me no go. Guy wasn't mean, he was just like there is nothing I can do. I said I just want the $399 price. He said there is nothing we can do. I was also going to do the add a new line route, but I don't want to lose my data plan.

So as much as I pretended I wasn't going to get it, $599 it is for me. I'll be getting it. I reserved one at the apple store. I really need help. I'm an apple addict.

All due respect to AT&T but screw them, I paid my iPhone-ETF of 120 and ordered a 32GB iPhone 4 in black(obviously :p), since the upgrade price for me was 499 plus taxes plus 18 dollar upgrade fee,

$218, vs., $120, $120 won out.

Now I learned my lesson and am going to sit this iPhone 4 out until 2012.
