[UK] Ebuyer.com selling SIM Free iPhones

Just been looking on ebuyer.com and they have started selling SIM free iPhones for £411.24. Link is

Anyone else seen UK retailers selling Sim Free iPhones yet? This is the first one I have seen. Still I am happy with my O2 one. Although £411.24 is not too bad if you dont want to be paying the £35 a month and up, or want something with a few more texts or minutes bundled in.
 
This is a bit strange...

Why sell them twice the price they are in the shops when you don't need a contract anyway to buy them?

Are they just trying to get more money from idiots or are these iPhones actually either old US stock (and therefore unlockable) or French unlocked phones? - which seems impossible.

Sim Free could mean "all networks" in which case its unlocked. I'd want clarification if I was thinking of buying one! (Just bought a £220 iTouch, not gonna happen for me anytime soon!)
 
I would expect these are the same as the French SIM Free iPhones. They would not be unlocked because I wouldn't think ebuyer would run the risk of selling unlocked iPhones then have customers come back and complain that when the next update comes out that it has bricked it.

It doesn't actually say that the iPhone has been unlocked all it says is it SIM free that makes me expect it is probably imported from France.
 
The Amazon iPhones are through 3rd party resellers and therefore are most likely 1.1.1 phones unlocked using IPSF or AnySIM.

The Ebuyer phones are actually sold BY Ebuyers which is very interesting...

SIM Free normally doesn't just mean it's shipped without a SIM, it means it's shipped completely unlocked and able to use any SIM you have. I'd double check before buying though as I wasn't aware of any official route to purchase a SIM free iPhone.
 
They had them in the states....

A couple of weeks before iDay here in the states they were on a similar website, 8gb only, and same price as apple, but they were out of "stock" until a predidcted one week after iday, or something like that.

Is anyone able to confirm the situation with this?

Would it work with an Orange UK SIM?
