I just got my new 27" iMac with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB.

I tested some Youtube videos and saw I now had the option for 3D.

I don't have a clue about what 3D glasses work well. Bottom line is I'm looking for functionality, not style.

Any suggestions?

For anaglyph 3D you can get away with the cheap Red/Cyan glasses.
All the rest are simply impossible on an iMac's display.
PS That GeForce shall support nVidia's 3D Vision and 3DTV technology, but the drivers are available only for Windows (It seems, they are even included in BootCamp's driver kit) plus you'd need some sort of 3D display panel witch is missing in iMac.
PPS The 3D option in YT has nothing to do with the computer's graphics card, IMHO.

Awww.

Got my hopes up for nothing.

But thanks for the info.
