Does anyone do 3D modeling work with CADD or Inventor, etc on their retina macbook pro? Does it perform good?

I've just started using Maya for my game design class, and it works really smoothly, at least in my experience.

Now that we're asking.. How about Solidworks? Somebody got some feedback about that on a rMBP? :)

I know it's pretty usable (otherwise I wouldn't even consider a rMBP, Solidworks is essential to me). But maybe people here could give me more details.

I've used Solidworks 2013 and Inventor 2014 a bit on my classic MBP (very similar specs to the retina, apart from the screen) and it does fine.

I wouldn't personally use it for overly large assemblies or parts with an insane amount of features, but for simpler stuff it does good.

I have my desktop at work for the heavy lifting, and that runs circles around any laptop out there...
