I needed a ceiling mount for my eero wireless access point, but couldn't find any for sale. I found a 3d printed model that I was able to get printed at my local library (first time ever using a 3D printer). Due to not hearing back from the first library in a timely fashion, I reached out to a neighboring library & ultimately ended up with 2 of the same mount, one printed from each library system. They were clearly made in different ways (one came printed on a 'mat' that I had to peel it off of, while the other did not. And the plastic looks & feels different on them.)

One of them broke as soon as I tried to put it on the eero while the other is working fine.

I don't know anything about 3D printing & just assumed they all worked the same way. Is there something I should be asking about/ looking for when I get stuff printed? Or is there a superior method vs others? Or possibly I just got lucky/ unlucky and there is nothing to really concern myself with.

Thanks in advance,

This guy explains anisotropic material properties and 3d print fragility pretty well. All other things being equal, there could have been significant print defects between layers in the weak print or printer orientation of the prints might have been opposite and as such when you applied force parallel to the layers when installing, one separated along the layers and one did not.

Thank you! I appreciate the link. That does help break it down.
