Has anyone ever had an issue where constant use of 3D Touch sort of weekens the structure of the phone and pressing on certain parts on the screen makes a ‘popping’ sound? It’s not noticeable unless you are in a completely silent room or something. In my case, using my phone in bed before going to sleep. I noticed it on the 8 plus after about a couple of weeks of use and now a little bit on the X. Kind of paranoid to use 3D Touch now cause I’m worried the whole screen will eventually have the issue

For the life of me, I keep forgetting that 3D Touch exists. I could definitely see how that could happen over time, but haven't experienced it myself.

This happened to my 5C where the plastic housing would creak. I wouldn’t expect the 6 series to do this.

Thankfully with my 5C Apple brought out a white boxed phone when my original started doing it again.

I use 3D Touch regularly on my iPhone and I have never heard any popping or creaking. It's possible where consistent pressure is applied regularly, The adhesive could cause the popping sound from separation.

Never heard a peep from any of my phones that have 3d touch. You may want to take a screwdriver and see if the two screws flanking the charging port are tight..

No!!!!!! Don’t whatever you do take a screwdriver and do anything to it. Take it to Apple if you have any concerns. It’s not worth it especially if Apple refuse to fix something else if it looked to have been tampered with!

Those screws are relatively small, and you have to be careful not to strip them if you used an inappropriate screwdriver. It actually requires a pentalobe screwdriver.

I guess I assumed most techy’s would have basic iPhone tools. I picked up the basic toolkit from ifixit which has pretty much all the proper specialty drivers and spudgers to perform basic repairs. I wouldn’t open an iPhone that is under warranty but, tightening two screws with the proper driver is something I’d rather not go to the Apple store to do. Especially considering I’ve seen some messed up screws and damage done during warranty work. I only recommended this because of past threads where people complained of creaking screens on iPhone 7’s and had found those screws were the culprit.
