Surprised there hasn't been a thread on this already considering there are real live 3DS owners here!

But isn't that dangerous.. I kid, I know we're adults here, but I always think about the kids that post their friend code online and it becomes kind of a permanent public record. O.O

It's just a friend code. It doesn't carry any important info (no usernames, no credit card numbers, no emails). I'd never post my email online but a friend code is just 12 numbers that have to be exchanged by both parties, otherwise it doesn't work.

I've added everyone.
Here's my code : 0473 8123 2771 :)

Oh no! If only there was some way of stopping certain threads from appearing in search engines, one hit posters destroy these threads.

But by all means regulars, get your codes out :p

I'm game. Do I have to have Mario Kart 7 or can you do other stuff? Were is your number located. :/ (Hey I'm new to the this and haven't figured out a lot of stuff yet).

Mine's 2707-1615-3159.

I saw today that Nintendo added a messaging app called "Swapnote" to the e-Shop. Pretty nice I think. It's not built into the friends list app like I wanted but still, it's good to have.

You don't have to have a game. Adding someone's friend code just means you can swap notes like I said and the other person can tell what games are your favorite and stuff like that. It's pretty basic currently.

You can view your friend code by hitting the orange smiley face on the home screen. It's one of the little icons on the top of the bottom screen. Once you hit that, just scroll over to your card and it should have your friend code listed there.

I don't see that on my main menu. I have:

Health & Safety Information
Nintendo 3DS Camera
Mii maker
ARGAMES
Activity Log
System Settings
3DS/DS Game spot (I didn't have a game in the unit at the time of this writing)
Nintendo 3DS Sound
Mii PLAZA
Face Raiders
Download Play
Nintendo eShop
Nintendo Video
nintendo zone (whatever this is)
SwapNote (Downloaded this the other days)
Then I have all the games I have downloaded from the eShop.

Is this something that I need to download and can't find it? Or is it something that they discontinued in the newer models. I got it in December. :/

What are you looking for, the friend code section? That's the orange smiley face on the top bar, it's not on the main menu. It's on the top row along with the screen options and notification button.

Ahh, found it.

EDIT: If I want to send a message though 'SwapNote' do I use 'Street Pass' or 'SpotPass'?

Depends.

Street Pass is local. So if you want to send notes to friends that are right next to you, you use this.

Spotpass is wireless so if you want to send notes to friends whereever they are, you use this.

Hope I helped! :)

my friend code is:
4597-0318-1643
