3G being sent from apple, w/ or w/out sim card?

Apple is sending me a brand new 3G as a replacement for my 2G. To make a long story short, my 2G would not receive calls, they replaced it with a refurbished which will not connect to Edge, thus they are sending me a brand new 3G (no complaints on my part, of course). But, I am wondering if the new phone will have a sim card in it? Due to the problems I have had I would like to start all over again with a brand new sim card, but didn't know if I would find one in the box or if I needed to go to an ATT store?
