I have been reading the rumors about GPS with the new 3G hopefully coming tom, but is it going to be turn by turn GPS??? I would be very disappointed if it just pinpoints a location.....Who really cares about GPS stamping photo's with my Iphone?? I have a 2000 Nikon Camera that does the same and never used the feature....

Anyone think its going to be turn by turn??

does the Google Maps use up data?
just wondering.
because if o get an iPhone it probably wont be on a plan.

doesnt google maps just give you the directions but not follow the route and announce the upcoming turns the way an actual GPS device does?

Either way, if the new iphone has GPS in it, someone will write an app to make it act like a typical garmin, tom tom, etc GPS.

It gives turn by turn direction yes but Im refering to actually following a simulated car on your Iphone screen as you come to streets like Navigation GPS in cars.

I have seen GPS on other devices like Blackberrys and wondering if you have to refresh the screen when wanting an updated location or is it real time?

I was hoping for some real time mapping without having to refresh on google maps.

Google Maps on the iPhone already gives you Turn-by-Turn directions...

Did you not know that? How?

If you've been reading the rumors here, (and there are a few not just one on other prior threads, it might be helpful to post on those threads. :)

its still all speculation.
will the forums be clogged after the announcement?

true, perfectly true.
except im going to be asleep when the Keynote happens, so ill just have to work it out afterwards lol.

------- just a side note, i joined 2 days ago and have since amassed 102 posts.
crazy much?

has anyone seen anything in the patent to reflect this idea? I looked at the patent pictures up to about 180 something, but then gave up.

I see all of this stuff about location detection with your iPhone. See where contacts are.
Yeah ok, driving home from school or work and seeing your "Dad's phone" in a "gentlemen's club".

lmao

From that, there has to be a GPS on the iPhone 2.0?
