Any clues as to whether the upcoming 3G phone will also continue to support EDGE for those of us who live in the hinterlands?
 
It has been posted before in many threads and is constantly asked. Search may have already answered your question.

Yes it is backwards compatible and will auto switch when leaving a 3G area.
 
I don't know why this question still comes up.

Think about it: AT&T has had 3G phones for a couple of years, and all of them fall back to EDGE where there is no 3G. It makes zero sense for a national company to introduce a device that would be worthless to most of the population. The economy of scale is just not there.
