3G Ipod Not Showing on iMac v_v

It did used to show up happiy when it was connected and I could see it in iTunes and on my desktop as an external drive type thing...


But now it doesn't - the ipod screen still has the flashing Do Not Disconnect logo on it? What do I do here guys? This is really annoying....

Is this all the time or just a one-off? If it's a one-off, just pull it out, accept the accompanying dialogue box, let it cool for a little while and plug it back in to see if it happens again.

I had to restore it.... Having firewire sounds nice but the fact that have 2000 too many songs on my mac makes this harder...
