I have an iPhone 3G currently running 4.1, baseband 05.14.02.

I would like to move to UNLOCKED 4.2.1. I understand that the only way to do this is to upgrade to (the iPad) baseband 6.15. The risk is that GPS may not work.

Anyone tried this route and does your GPS work?

GPS is more important to me than unlock. Thanks.

There are already a couple threads polling this question on the GPS/ipadBB problem. You should subscribe to them. I don't see a poll yet though, no polls on this forum? Doesn't seem like it is very wide spread now but if it is critical to you don't take the chance.

If you went ahead with it worst case is you lose GPS and have to get an external one and btstack.

so u can unlock iphone 4 using the Ipad 4.2.1?
i dont really care about gps!
if yes how do u do that?

Unless absolutely required, I suggest stay away from the ipad firmware. As you will not be able to use the iphone factory firmware in the event some disaster happens. That's what I've read so far.
