3G not recognized in itunes suddenly... ?

so i went and bought the new iphone and im trying to sync my contacts from my 3G to my itunes so i can transfer it to my IP4... but for some reason my itunes wont even detect or recognize my 3G.

wth???

i just tried connected my IP4 and still no recognition... doesnt matter which phone i use...

also, iphoto recognizes both of them fine, but itunes will not... ?

connecting to a brand new Macbook Pro 15" i7

any suggestions?
