3g on iphone 3gs not working?

For about a week now my 3g would be at 3 bars with the internet/phone not working. But once i switch to EDGE everything works fine. I tried reseting the network settings but that didnt help. Is there anything else i could do?

i had an issue today w/ my iphone 4. I would get 'no service' on 3G, but full bars and internet/sms functionality when 3G turned off in settings/network, and phone on Edge. 3 restarts later, seems to work fine. Weird.

I thought the phone auto-switched to Edge if 3G was unavailable?

yeh thats what i thought, but it will just stay at no service or 3 bars. It actually worked good yesterday i had 5 bars woke up this morning back to 3 bars -.- idk what to do lol
