3G OS 4.0 Not Working

Hi;

After 2 hours upgrading Itunes and the downloading and upgrading my iPhone 3G to OS 4.0 nothings changed????

The summary tab in iTunes says I now have 4.0 but my phone is exactly the same?
I have found out I will not be able to multi task but how do I get folders and a background picture etc etc my phone appears to be exactly the same as before.

I have hunted around in settings but nothing is jumping out at me.

Pleas Help
