iPod touch 3g OS but 2g iPod? Any insight to upgrade?

I want to buy a new MacBook Pro. I've already suffered enough -- I had a $1999 model delivered to my house the day of the major upgrade and had to return it. I refuse to buy a new Mac before the iPod Touch upgrade, which the buyer's guide predicts is imminent.

Am I being too cautious? Thank you

if the improvements to the new ipod are as significant as the iphone 3g to 3gs then i'm going to wait till next year to buy a new one because of the multicore 2010 rumors. But if a camera and gps are added i will buy one in a heartbeat. So it probably doesn't matter if you buy one now, as a lot of people say on this site, if you want it get it and enjoy it because with technology you will always be a step behind
