3G phone upgrade within Family plan

So I'm eligible for a phone upgrade in a month and I was wondering what plans ATT makes you activate once you get the 3G. I'm currently on my parents' family plan so would I just have to pay the extra $30 a month for the data? Would I be able to use the family plan's voice and unlimited texting? :confused:

Thanks, I tried searching for the answer but couldn't find anything,
