I bought an iPhone in the early days, opted out of the contract and have been paying for the Pick-a-Plan on auto pay for around 18 months.
I've decided to put the money into a 3G S and start a legitimate contract with AT&T.
According to the representatives, and Apple's website, I owe a $750  security deposit before setting up my order for a 3G S.

My question is:
Has anyone had any luck with getting AT&T to reduce that charge?
If so, does anyone have any pointers, phone numbers, or information that might help me get that deposit reduced or eliminated?

Thanks!

Are you having to pay a security deposit because you are not going to be paying with a credit card or something?

The security deposit is required if you don't have a credit card or don't pass the credit check. One possible option is to see if ATT will reduce it if you set up autopay from a bank account. No guarantees, but it's worth asking. Another would be to see they will refund it to you after a reasonable period, such as 6 months of on time payment.
