3G unlock help

I just brought a 3g and it have 2.1 firmware. I want to unlock it. So can some one please help me on what to do. if i use quickpawn on 2.1 will it change the baseband. i cannot use pwangetoll cuz i dont have a Mac computer.

As far as I know, the 3G has not been able to be unlocked yet...

Don't do anything until new years eve. The dev team is releasing their unlock that evening. It is being distributed through cydia, you have to have a jailbroken phone for that. Check their blog at link. They always post all the instructions there

if you update through pwnage tool it will prevent the baseband update, and you could (if you want) update to 2.2. Just make sure to use only pwnagetool. or since you have a pc you can download pwned firmwares of several websites. I will find the link for you. and if you just do a dfu restore to one of those files your phone will be jailbroken 2.2

can i quickpwan 2.1? will the baseband stay the same. i dont care if i can get 2.2, i just want to be able to unlock when they release the software unlock. How do pwned firmwares work? my current phone is on 2.1 and not jailbreak.

yes you can quickpwn 2.1. the baseband is okay at 2.1. just don't quickpwn 2.2.

yes. also by pwning 2.2 also lets you unlock your phone in the near future if you wish.
