3G vids not working on 3GS

After I purchased my 3G a little over a year ago, I converted some DVD movies using Wondershare to iphone m4v. Worked great. However, on the 3Gs they will not play. I get a green screen or black screen depending on the video, and audio only. Anyone else experienced this?
