I have been searching for anything on what occurred today.

I have a client with a 3GS on iOS 5.
She asked if she could update. I told her how to start the update.
When the iPhone restarted she only had a blank white screen.
I remotely connected to her computer.
She connected the iPhone to the computer with iTunes.
iTunes stated the phone was in DFU mode and needs to be restored.
When the process ended, there was an error message unknown error (37).
This was the same time iCloud was down. So I though an apple server was not being contacted.
Options. OK or More Information
Ok started the whole process of itunes found iphone in DFU mode, Restore.
More information lead to Apple support documents.
iTunes 10.5, Win 7 - completely up to date, rebooted, change USB port, changed cables, firewall off, MicroTrend off.
Never had this issue before.
two hours later and multiple tries to restore iPhone and a call to AppleCare (no assistance due to no serial number)
Phone still white screen and in DFU mode according to iTunes.

anyone have this issue?
any thoughts?
any ideas?

I have an appointment at Apple Store first thing in the morning.

Apple Store tried and got same result.

Thank the gods the device was still in warranty.
Replaced.
Signed in on iOS 5.0.1
Restore from iCloud 5 minutes
Had to wait about 30 for all apps to complete download and install.
passwords and a certificate from one bank app was all that was missing.

Apple and iCloud rocks!
