3Gs and Push Notifications

Hey...got a question for you

I have a 3Gs iPhone on 5.1...jailbroken but tethered...

i notice that the push notifications don't seem to work...

it is semi-tethered really by using bigboss' semi-tethered

software

my problem though is this

i get messages on whatsapp or viber and they don't come through

the just sit there until i open the app

is there anything i could do?
