Do you all expect there to be plenty of phones available at launch?

I went in yesterday and spoke with an AT&T rep. She told me to expect a wait of 7 - 14 business days if I placed an order. Since I'm still deciding whether to get an iPhone or stay with Sprint I declined to order yesterday.

I sent her an email yesterday afternoon (no response yet) telling her that if they get in an unclaimed 32GB unit to email/call me and I'll take it. What are the odds that I'll hear from her on Friday/Saturday? Do you think these stores will order extra units? Do you think they'll actually get them in?

There are a million threads on this.. but in the short no one really knows

what's better right now?

Order from Apple have it sent to a store pre order?

Or order from Apple have it sent to your house pre order?

With Apple, the only "guaranteed" way to know you'll have it on Friday is to order in advance and have it shipped to your house.

If you chose to pick it up in the store, unlike AT&T, they will not hold one for you. They sell them first-come, first-served and there's no special line for those that ordered online and chose to pick up in the store. (Having said that, once you do get into the Apple store, if you ordered online, the process of buying will go a lot quicker than if you didn't order online). Also, Apple typically has way, way more stock than AT&T, so there's a good chance Apple won't sell out on the first day.
